At about 5 minutes from Harajuku Station is located this beautiful display of lights for Christmas. The lighting will be there all through December and end during the first week of January.

Easy access via Yamanote Line and Chiyoda Line (if coming via Meiji Jingumae Station)

Sakura (Cherry Blossom)

When spring arrives to Japan it makes sure that everyone feels its presence. There is not a single place where you cannot see beautiful flowers blooming with joy. The streets are covered with Sakura flowers, best place to enjoy them is Yoyogi park where people come with family and friends with a mat, some food and some games on any weekend but they are overly crowded during these 2 weeks of Sakuras.

Other less crowded place is Imperial Palace 5 kms round. The whole perimeter is full of sakuras and one can come here easily as it is at the center, one can reach here via Tokyo or Otemachi station.

In Tokyo, the sakuras start coming from the early weeks of April and die away within two weeks so as not to see the month of May.

Shinjuku Gyoen Garden

Located at about 10 minutes from Shinjuku station, this is a grand garden in the heart of Tokyo, the entry fee is a mere 3 USD or 300 Yens, and more than worth this. There is a park area to sit and relax with your family, and then there is a greenhouse museum, where you can experience beautiful tropical plants and trees. An amazing experience! All the pics taken are in autumn season in mid-November.

Fireworks (Hanabi Festival)

The fireworks take place near major rivers in Tokyo and happen usually from mid July to August end (about once a week at different locations). The fireworks usually last 1.5 hours with 30 minutes continuous fireworks and breaks of 10 mins 2 times.

Below are some pics of fireworks that took place near Kita-Senju station  (connected to Shinjuku station via multiple lines and take about 35 minutes to reach):

Showa Kinen Memorial Park

This is a very big park with its Cosmos being the main attraction. The park has flowers of different types but they dry up by the first week of November.

Next you can enjoy them from mid September to November first week 2017 which is also the beginning of autumn in Tokyo.

Nearest station is Tachikawa Station connected to Shinjuku station via Chuo Line and takes about 40 mins to get here. There is an entry fee to the park and it is 410 Yens for adults and about half for children.
