Tokyo Metro

The major mode of transport in Japan is train followed by bus and then taxis and personal/rented cars. The Tokyo metro map is one of the most complicated one and there are many stations where trains going in 2 different places are coming at the same platform and there are many instances when a person takes a wrong train.

Minimum cost for a taxi is 710 yens upto 2 kms and 321 yens per km there after. Plus there is extra charge for waiting and night charge.

It is recommended to take a train since trains are almost always on time and if you are coming here for a business trip and happen to get too late because of a train, worry not!! You can simply get a ticket of train being late from the ticket gate and the people waiting for you will understand (that is if you contact them about your delay atleast 10 minutes before the actual meeting time)

You can download the following apps to get the train timings and routes:

Navitime

Tokyo Metro

Or you can search online on Google by just entering followed by “Station to”  followed by “Station”.

Example: Tokyo Station to Shibuya Station

The above query will give you the time of next train from Tokyo station to Shibuya station, the cost of travelling and will also tell about the quickest route between the stations by also giving information about platforms. Taking a train from the correct platform is the MOST important thing because many times there will be 2 platforms which will have some common destination stations but in the middle somewhere they will be bifurcating into 2 different routes. So, always keep track of the platforms, if confused ask the person at the ticket gate, this will save a lot of the valuable time of your precious trip 🙂

You can also use the following links if you want more details and do not trust a simple Google query. The following websites are made specifically to help travelers commute easily between stations.

Hyperdia

If you have any queries just post in the comments section.

Bon Voyage 🙂
